This issue has had the following consequences, among othersbr Nonattention to Detail many customers make very specific drink requests. It is up to the barista to accurately measure and mix all of the ingredients, and create the drink the customer wants. This requires knowledge and high attention to detail, as well as some general measuring and math skills. Unfortunately, it is been hard for the company to find professional team players with this competency.br Noncustomer Service Skills baristas are dealing directly with customers all day. This requires strong interpersonal skills. Baristas that we have hired before, have not been able to listen carefully to the orders and answer any questions customers have, demonstrating a complete lack of knowledge about the coffee processing, terminology, methods, origin and history.br Nontechnical Skills The Company expects the Baristas to have some experience and technical skills, be prepared to provide evidence of their knowledge through a Certificate of studies.br The information above mentioned is very sensitive to the purposes of our operation, in this regard it is required that the team of the company is well prepared, with solid knowledgeable and with ability to responds with correct decisions and professional criteria in order to achieve accurate service, with the ability to handle easily and quickly the processes involved. Also due to the weaknesses we have had in the managing area after the pandemic, we do not have the capacity to train new employees for this department.br For these reasons, a person with a Certificate of Approval in Coffee Brewing and three months of experience in Barismo is required for the position of Barista Expert in Handbrewing, complying with the following rolesbr Promoting coffee consumption by educating customers; preparing and serving a variety of specialty coffee brewing methods.br Following the Specialty Coffee Association of America or SCAA standards, and highquality recommendations by the Standards Committee.br Making quantifiable and qualifiable measures, based upon scientific testing, which set values andor ranges of values for coffee.br Welcoming customers by determining their coffee interests, curiosities and needs.br Educating customers by presenting and explaining the specialty coffee drink menu; answering their questions, demonstrating how brewing equipment operates. This is the most important role.
