Specific Skills

The successful applicant will have served as the instructor of record for multiple courses. A specific title is not listed at H.10B because universities have different titles for instructors of record, who could be called teaching assistants, graduate assistants, assistant professors, and so on. Three months is expressed as the minimum experience requirement here because the college is asking for candidates who have served as the instructor of record for multiple courses and that is the approximate time it would take to teach multiple courses. Those courses could have occurred over just one semester. All experience may have been parttime and may have been gained concurrently, or also concurrently with education.br br Demonstrated excellence in teaching.br br An active intellectual life that includes regular presentations at academic conferences and the occasional publication of scholarly andor pedagogyrelated articles.br br The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to employ pedagogical practices that generate active and engaged learning.br br Strong interest, and ideally experience, in teaching using methods developed and supported by Physics Education Research PER. Preference will be given to candidates who are experimentalists including in PER and are able to supervise students in undergraduate research at a small liberal arts college, although theoreticians with an experimental overlap will be strongly considered.br br Complete application that demonstrates competencies in the above qualifications will include Curriculum Vita, a letter of application highlighting the applicants specific qualifications for the position, including a description of past teaching experiences and preparation to teach and mentor students from groups historically underrepresented in higher education; contact information for three professional references.br Open rank faculty position, so selected candidate is not expected to have all preferred skills.
