Specific Skills

Employer requires a PhD in Agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering or related discipline. Employer considers a PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering to satisfy the degree requirement. Faculty candidates should have 1 exceptional potential for worldclass research; and 2 expertise in fluid power and in one or more of the following fields Modeling and design of hydrostatic transmissions and hydraulic hybrid systems, including electrohydraulic hybrids; Distributed sensing, controls, acoustics and diagnostics for complex fluid power systems; Modeling, design and control of hydraulically driven flexible robots, wearable power assist devices andor portable robots; Functional fluids, ER fluids andor tribological systems; Modeling, design and control of pneumatic systems; Analysis, modeling and simulation of multidomain systems; Design and motion control of water hydraulic systems; Modeling and control of micro fluid power systems. Applicants also must have 3 commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education, 4 industry experience or demonstrated research funding from industry or government agencies; and 5 excellent communication and grant writing skills. To satisfy 1 and 2, Employer accepts evidence of scholarly publications in or related to one of the listed areas of expertise; one semester 16 weeks in any role involving research in one of the listed areas of expertise within an institution of higher education or a similar environment; or grants of provisional of full patents. To satisfy 3, Employer accepts one semester 16 weeks in any role involving teaching, instruction or student mentorship within an institution of higher education or a similar environment; acceptable job titles for such a position include, but are not limited to Teaching Assistant, Instructor, Lecturer, faculty titles or similar titles. To satisfy 4 and 5, Employer accepts demonstration of past funding or grants awarded from government or industry sources for research in which the candidate was a CoInvestigator or other named member of the research endeavor. This PERM application is for permanent employment certification for a university teacher. Pursuant to 20 CFR 656.18, the employer is permitted to consider preferred qualifications in addition to minimum requirements for the position to determine whether the alien is more qualified than U.S. applicants. Candidates with a multidisciplinary research focus are particularly encouraged.
