Specific Skills

The position requires an M.D. in Medicine or Clinical Genetics or foreign degree equivalent. Education or experience must include Evaluation and management of general genetic disorders and dysmorphology experience in inpatient, outpatient and specialty clinic settings; Interpretation of medical genetic testing results and provide genetic counseling to families and patients; Evaluate, diagnose, or treat Inborn Errors of Metabolism including management of acute metabolic crisis of Inborn Errors of Metabolism in the inpatient setting and interdisciplinary management of patients; Experience in newborn screening followup providing primary care and treating physician notification, recommendations and clinical support for abnormal newborn screen NBS results reported from the state Public Health Laboratory; Teaching genetic residents, fellows, medical students and genetic counseling students. Must be Boardcertifiedeligible in Clinical Genetics. Must be Boardcertifiedeligible in Medical Biochemical Genetics. Must be eligible for or possess a valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia. Travel required.
