SSE at QB is responsible for contributing to the development of QBs next generation data platform using newly acquired technology. The DOLs ONET Online Classification for the position is 151132, Software Developers, Applications now 151252, which has a Job Zone 4, SVP range of 7lt;8, and which occupation normally requires a Bachelors degree and several years of work exp. Due to the seniority of the position, QB requires that a SSE have at least a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field 5 years of software engineering experience, OR an MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field 1 year of software engineering experience. These requirements translate to an SVP of 8, which SVP is higher that the DOLs normal SVP range for the classification, but which requirements are necessary for the SSE to perform the duties in a reasonable manner. At QB, there are five levels of software engineers from junior to most senior Software Engineer I, Software Engineer II, Senior Software Engineer, Staff Software Engineer Principal Software Engineer. The level of each software engineer is dependent on hisher knowledge and experience. The SSE position requires a candidate with at least a BS 5 years of relevant work experience because it requires someone who is a technical expert that designs and implements solutions to complex problems, who can take ownership of existing code and work towards simplifying it, and who can provide one on one technical mentoring and coaching to team members. These qualities can only be gained through a BS plus significant onthejob experience or a Masters degree 1 year of experience.
