Specific Skills

The position requires a Medical Doctor MD degree or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine DO degree and one 1 year of relevant experience. Must be Board certified or eligible in HospicePalliative medicine. Position also requires any amount of experience in the following skills experience in the removal of life sustaining therapies to include ventilator withdrawal and noninvasive ventilation; experience in the delivery of outpatient palliative care in a palliative care clinic; experience in the management of acute palliative care emergencies to include acute symptom crisis, spinal cord compression, and suicidal ideation in the context of terminal illness; experience in the provision of hospice care and the determination of certification of patients for hospice care under the Medicare Hospice Guidelines; experience in the management of patient controlled analgesic infusions; experience in symptom management including patient and family education, psychosocial and spiritual support, and appropriate referrals for other modalities such as invasive procedures such as celiac plexus block; experience in the evaluation of a patient or clinical request for palliative sedation. Must be eligible for or possess a valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia and a valid DEA license.
