Minimum education and experience required Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering or foreign equivalent degree 2 years experience in a design engineering or product design engineering position with a Tier1 supplier of automotive convertible roofs. Special skills required Must have 2 years experience in each of the following analysis of design feasibility and functionality of automotive convertible roof components; evaluation and validation of technical processes and tooling design; use of CATIA to design front closures, hinges, and locking mechanisms for automotive convertible roofs, and to perform digital mockup analysis and determine part trajectory; design and verification of latch and closure mechanisms; performance of tolerance stackup analysis on exterior panels and latch mechanisms of automotive convertible roof; application of FEA to automotive convertible roof locking mechanisms; identification of root cause of automotive convertible roof and latching component performance issues due to vehicle environment, mechanics, and structure rigidity; analysis and evaluation of automotive convertible roof system performance issues relating to manufacturing variation, material and noise; performance of design for assembly on vehicle exterior surface panels and latch assemblies; design of exterior automotive convertible roof panels and latch mechanisms for global programs to comply with governmental safety requirements.
