Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related plus 2 years of experience as a field Technician within the airfield lighting industry or a related job. Employer will accept an Associates degree or related training program certificate from a college or university plus at least 3 years of related work experience as an alternative to the Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience. Requires at least 2 years of experience in the following skills demonstrated knowledge of FAA policies and ICAO installation best practices, demonstrated knowledge of airfield lighting product offerings, designing electrical wiring diagrams and 1line diagrams, troubleshooting electrical systems using wiring diagrams, and working within advanced computer networks. Requires at least 1 year of experience using computer aided design cad. Also requires formal training in electric and electronic troubleshooting, constant current regulator troubleshooting and repair, micro computer regulator troubleshooting and repair, airfield lighting design, airfield lighting control and monitoring system installation, airfield lighting control and monitoring system troubleshooting and repair, and the sap cs module. Acceptable training format may be 1 seminars offered by ADB or other companies in the industry and proven by completion certificates, 2 handson work experience proven by statements from former employers, or 3 college courses specific to the subject. Requires fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites at airports around North and South America.br br Please note that the requirement for fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese is directly tied to the assigned job duties for this position, which requires significant communication with customers in South America including most countries where Spanish is the primary language and expected for business and including Brazil, where Portuguese is the primary language and expected for business including direct practical interpretation of highly technical documents written in these languages and communicating highly technical solutions when asked questions by Spanish and Portuguese speakers. As the Lead who serves as the escalation point for customers, this role cannot go through an interpreter without frustrating the entire point of having this Lead role, which is important and essential for our customer service function. We should also note that most of our customers do not have or will not get their own interpreters. It is essential to performance of the job that this employee be able to interact with our customers in our customers standard business and technical languages. We cannot have anyone fill this position without fluency in these three core languages. During our advertisement process for this labor market test, we asked candidates to answer this screening question quot;Do you have sufficient fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese to be comfortable conversing on airfield lighting and electrical engineering topics with customers around North and South Americaquot;. To advertise this role without the language requirements would result in frustration for U.S. worker candidates who would later learn that in order to talk with their customers and perform the duties of the role, the language fluency is required. Most U.S. worker candidates would immediately understand the language need as soon as they had their first day of interacting with our customers and would not be able to successfully perform their assigned duties without the required language fluency. Therefore, screening candidates for this language ability is essential. Our foreign language requirement was included in good faith as an absolute business necessity.
