This position requires a terminal degree MFA or Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, English or closely related field. Experience training consultants in a Writing Center is also required, as well as experience with and knowledge of the needs of second language learners and graduate student writers. The position requires knowledge of and experience with writing center practice and theory; online tutorial practices; teaching experience in writing courses; and ability to work closely with a range of campus constituencies. Assistant director must be free to move between campus locations.br br Knowledge, Skills Abilities Successful candidate must have a knowledge of writing center theory and practice as well as tutor training pedagogy; ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications; commitment to the universitys mission; innovative and effective teaching; sustained and significant professional development; and service to the university.
