Astute observation, moving, communication safe hygiene skills.br br Knowledge of foreign language Kriobr I filed the I130 Petition last year for my dad William Addo Davies, a Sierra Leonean resident so he can migrate to the US, and it has been approved. My dad is 86 years old and he currently has a caregiver name Sampha Tarawallie working for him full time in Sierra Leone SL since January 2019 to present. And prior to his full time care, Sampha Tarawallie was providing personal care for my dad on an as needed basis from January 2013 to December 2018. My dad is currently Sampha Tarawallies employer but when my dad moves to the US, I will become the employer for my dads caregiver as the cost of labor is more expensive here in the US compare to SL.br br My dad is planning to travel to the US after the COVID19 pandemic is under control and he would like Sampha Tarawallie to continue to be his caregiver in the US because he said at his age it will be difficult to adjust to someone new caring for him and that he knows Sampha Tarawallie well enough to trust him. Additionally, the reason Sampha Tarawallie became my dads full time caregiver instead of providing part time care is because per my dads doctors advice, my dad needed to engage in conversations throughout the day instead of being home alone by himself all day as his brain was beginning to slow down and his level of communication was deteriorating. Even though English is the official language at work and in schools in SL, my dad speaks Krio his native language 100 of the time now because he retired 16 years ago and this is the only language he comfortably uses to communicate with now because of his brain condition due to aging. Per his doctors advice, he needs to continue to keep his brain active while living in the US and so he will need a caregiver to communicate with in Krio throughout the day in order to keep his brain engage. Sampha Tarawallies native language is also Krio and he has been doing a really great job helping my dad keep his brain engage as he actively communicates with him in Krio throughout each day while helping my dad get the care and exercises he needs to stay physically and mentally active each day.br br Ive been looking and enquiring for the past 10 months to find a caregiver that speaks Krio in Sacramento, California but to no avail. Ive placed 2 job ads on CAlJOBS webpage for a period of 120 days and I did not get any response from candidates that meet the minimum requirements for the job only 2 candidates responded; one did not call me back after leaving her messages to schedule an interview and the other candidate does not speak Krio nor has the required 1 year experience. I also placed job ads on the Sacramento Bee newspaper for 2 Sundays in a row but did not get any response from qualified candidates either; only 2 candidates responded and none of them speak Krio.br br On top of all this, my dad is also worried about the possibility of having to change different caregivers if they provide unsatisfactory services since its hard to find even one right now. According to the caregiver job outlook from the Bureau of Labor Statistic, Employment of home health aides and personal care aides is projected to grow 36 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the babyboom population ages and the elderly population grows, the demand for the services of home health aides and personal care aides will continue to increase.br br I do not want my dad at his age to worry or stress about getting satisfied personal care as this will also adversely affect his mental health. At this stage in his life I am trying to do all I can to prevent that and help him have the quality of life an elderly person deserves to have during the latter part of his life instead of having to deal with undue stress regarding his personal care.
