Shin Sano LLC is a boutique consultancy that operates in the highly competitive industrial design research and consulting field. Through our small tightknit team of highly qualified design professionals, we are able to execute complex design research projects, and serve major clients such as Toyota Motor Corporation, Panasonic, and Target. For example, recently, our team collaborated on the Emotional UX Inquiry Project for Toyota Motor Corporation to research the latest technologies in humancomputer interaction and their utilities and design humanmachine interface prototypes. In order to continue to effectively serve these large corporations, all of our design related positions at our firm requires expertise that can only be acquired through at least a Masters level academic program in each of the positions relevant fields. Our Industrial Designer position is no exception, and it requires advanced knowledge in industrial design principles and practices that can only be acquired through a Masters level academic program. In other words, the Industrial Designer position is not entrylevel; it is an integral part of our operations and the position necessitates specific advanced knowledge that can only be acquired at a Masters level academic program. To prepare sketches, detailed drawings and computerized renderings, to design and conceptualize ideas for product development, as well as assist the preparation and execution of design research projects, our Industrial Designer must have advanced knowledge inwith industrial design processes including data visualization strategies, design research and developing user experience solutions. To modify and refine designs through participatory and iterative design techniques, as well as effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually to clients, heshe must have advanced knowledge inwith business and design integration and visual semiotics. Our Industrial Designer must also have advanced knowledge inwith industrial design processes and visual semiotics to evaluate feasibility of design ideas and manage the design process by tracking issues and estimating resource needs and schedules. Heshe must further have advanced knowledge inwith industrial design processes and object and space design to produce user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, information architecture, design prototypes, and design specifications. Moreover, our Industrial Designer must have advanced knowledge inwith digital and physical interaction design and industrial design processes to work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented. The aforementioned advanced knowledge required for the role can only be acquired at a Masters level academic program and cannot be acquired through a Bachelors degree, work experience, or a combination of both. Each required advanced knowledge directly relates to the duties to be performed and is extremely complex and integral to the wellbeing of the company. Therefore, we have determined that the job duties and minimum requirements bear a reasonable relationship to the occupation in the context of our business, and are essential to perform the job in a reasonable manner.
