Specific Skills

Four years post degree experience with adaptive optics; optical spectroscopy; photometry; supporting, trouble shooting and operating 1 meter and larger telescopes, including responding to time sensitive and ad hoc events. Must have solid backgroundexpertise in day and night observatory work; Unix; Python; IRAF; performance monitoring and optimization of observatory equipment and detectors; training scientists to use observatory equipment; strong presentation and public speaking skills, to all audience levels. Requires daytime and nighttime oncall availability at Lick Observatory, Mt. Hamilton, CA. Required to live on site. Employer provided housing is a benefit for this position.
