Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling ABGC.br Hold or have ability to qualify for Utah State Genetic Counseling Licensure. Demonstrable ability to elicit pertinent medical information including personal and family cancer history, lifestyle norms, and environmental exposures in order to assess and calculate heredity and personal cancer risk using risk models such as TyrerCuzick and PREMM. Demonstrable knowledge of medical society guidelines for testing criteria and management for hereditary cancer conditions to include Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer syndrome, Lynch Syndrome, and hereditary polyposis conditions. Demonstrable knowledge and prior experience providing genetics education on all aspects of hereditary cancer, including inheritance patterns, risk analysis, Knudson hypothesis, cascade testing, potential ethical and legal implications of genetic testing, and genetic discrimination concerns. Demonstrable knowledge of genetic testing techniques, including Sanger Sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing, microarray comparative genomic hybridization microarrayCGH, Multiplex Ligationdependent Probe Amplification MLPA, and multiplex quantitative PCR. Demonstrable ability to elicit and evaluate patient psychosocial history in both pre and posttest conversations. Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience reviewing and assessing scientific literature on various aspects of hereditary cancer conditions.br Travel Requirements Domestic travel two times per fiscal year up to 5 days per trip.
