Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or foreign equivalent plus coursework, internships, or experience to include working and assisting on project engineering from concept and schematic design through construction documents to construction and commissioning; working on wide variety of building projects, including complex geometry structures, commercial, institutional, civic projects, and sport facilities; working closely as a member of one or more project teams and assisting to complete projects on aggressive schedules; implementing and utilizing Best Practices for projects and processes; participating as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions, and taking on issues where appropriate; working in integrated design teams, collaborating with multiple practices across the firm; actively seeking new knowledge related to structural engineering practices, principles and regulations changes; attending meetings with clients and promoting positive client contact with current or prospective clients; making technical assumptions, thinking independently to complete assigned work, and drawing engineering conclusions; utilizing knowledge and experience in applying engineering principles for complete and accurate code compliant drawings; performing analysis and design of structural systems for all type of buildings and materials using various national and international building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures; performing structural design and analysis for various structural materials, including steel, concrete, and concrete masonry; designing and analyzing foundation system, including slabs, slabsongrade, and footings, under load combinations per building codes; using stateoftheart structural Finite Element and NonLinear Analysis programs, including ETABS and SAP2000 to perform NonLinear analysis, dynamic analysis and seismic response calculations; checking models for clearances, potential conflicts, and relationships of the various parts to the whole and to one another; developing, modifying, and reviewing models, plans, details and drawings of structural engineering systems and components according to established standards and modeling techniques, based on input sketches, layouts and verbal instructions from the structural engineering team; organizing and maintaining analytical models, calculations and other documents for multiple projects; performing site visits and conducting surveys to document and evaluate existing systems; visiting project sites during construction for reviews of quality, progress, and compliance with specifications and standards; providing technical guidance and engineering support for construction activities including review of technical submittals, response to contractors requests for information and response to plan check comments from building department; identifying lessons learned for future reference and draws from previous lessons learned data base for project deliverables.
