Employer requires a PhD in a discipline appropriate to the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Employer considers a PhD in Mechanical Engineering satisfies this requirement. Employer requires academic qualifications for appointment at the rank of professor in the department; an understanding of and involvement in the ABET accreditation process; strong communication and relationship building skills; excellent and proven leadership skills, with experience directing and managing faculty and staff in a collaborative and transparent manner; a record of enhancing the teaching and learning mission of an academic program; a vision for promoting students success including the improvement of existing undergraduate and graduate programs; a clear vision for promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service and enhancing faculty development; and demonstrated experience enhancing research and scholarly productivity among faculty. To satisfy these requirements, employer accepts evidence of 1 scholarship, by demonstrating i publication of scholarly papers in national or international peerreviewed journals; ii poster or oral presentations at national or international conferences, or iii publication of scholarly books or chapters by national or international publishers within the field; 2 leadership, by demonstrating one semester 16 weeks in any role within a higher education or research environment that involved stewardship of an academic, research or similar unit; acceptable titles include but are not limited to professor, head, director, chair or similar titles; 3 teaching, by demonstrating one semester 16 weeks in any role involving teaching or instruction within an institution of higher education or a similar environment; acceptable job titles for such a position include, but are not limited to instructor, lecturer, faculty assistantassociate professor or similar titles; and 4 ABET accreditation, by demonstrating one semester 16 weeks in any role involving ABET accreditation, preparation, examination or similar responsibilities. All requirements may be satisfied concurrently. Background check required. Purdue Universitys Northwest campus comprises two sites Hammond and Westville, in Indiana. Duties and responsibilities primarily will take place at the Hammond campus in Lake county, but the chosen candidate may also be required, as needed, at the Westville campus in Laporte county.
