REQUIRESbr br 1 Bachelors degree in biological science or a related field or the foreign degree equivalent;br 2 Current certification as a Technologist in Cytogenetics, CG ASCP, or current certification in Clinical Genetics from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science;br 3 Two 2 years of clinical experience in cytogenetics including each of the followingbr Sample preparation and analysis using fluorescence in situ hybridization FISH;br Establishing cell cultures for cytogenetic analysis from peripheral blood, bone marrow, and tissue biopsies from patients being treated for leukemia, lymphomas and other hematological malignancies;br Harvesting cells from peripheral blood, bone marrow, and tissue biopsies;br Preparing stain slides and analyzing human chromosomes;br Summarizing test results and writing reports using correct International System for Cytogenetic Nomenclature;br 4 One 1 year of experience in molecular diagnostic techniques including primary manipulation of biological specimens for molecular testing; nucleic acid extraction, quantification, and quality assessment; Polymerase Chain Reaction PCR, and gel electrophoresis.br Experience can be gained concurrently.
