This position requires an advanced, indepth, and complex understanding of software engineering principles that is best gained through a university education. In addition, this Lead Computer Scientist plays a key role in maintaining production applications for the New England bulk electric power system that encompasses more than 14 million residents in 6 states. The Lead Computer Scientist is responsible for providing technical expertise to Energy Management System projects; leading teams in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and completing assignments and projects; assisting in the selection of IT consultants and vendors; and communicating with Operations groups to gain and sustain understanding of business processes and operational issues related to power system and market operations. Because of the level of responsibility that this position entails, as well as the serious consequences of errors, ISO New England has determined that significant handson experience is necessary. Please note that ISO New England wants to ensure that our positions are open to the largest candidate pool possible. Therefore, we design our requirements to allow for alternate combinations of acceptable education and experience so as to ensure the successful applicant will be able to perform the job duties, while still considering different combinations of education and experience.
