The job description specifically states that this International Social Media Specialist is responsible for Boston Universitys Chinese social media outreach. The specific job duties include developing Chinese social media strategy; monitoring media outreach on Chinese social media platforms; engaging with students on Chinese social media platforms; and developing and maintaining relationships with Chinese digital media influencers and Chinese news media. IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO PERFORM THESE JOB DUTIES WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO SPEAK CHINESE. Furthermore, the requirements specifically state that the position requires experience in ChinesetoEnglish and EnglishtoChinese translation. This requires the kind of advanced skills in marketing and public relations best gained through a Masterslevel program where students are challenged to developed their own marketing strategies. Furthermore, in order to successfully implement these strategies across multiple media venues, this International Social Media Specialist must have handson experience in the field.
