H.10B Must have two years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering, including system design, computer modeling, and code consulting.br br H.12 PLEASE NOTE these requirements bear a reasonable relationship to the occupation of FirePrevention and Protection Engineer in the context of the fire protection industry, and are essential to perform the job in a reasonable manner. Because of the specialized nature of fire prevention and protection engineering, the employer has determined that a Masters degree is required. Generally, these types of specialized programs are not available until the Masters level so an engineer specializing in this area must complete a Masters program. These programs generally include introductory and advanced courses and lab courses in fire dynamics, exploring the fire dynamics phenomena and including fundamental topics in fire and combustion, such as fire chemistry, thermodynamics, flame spread, fire plumes, flame radiation, ignition, ceiling jets and more; courses on fire modeling, including a computational component and topics such as Computational Fluid Dynamics CFDbased fire modeling, toxicity assessment, effect of fire retardants and zone models; coursed on fire detection and alarm systems, including the engineering principles and analysis used to create and evaluate smoke detectors and fire alarm technology; coursed on fire suppression, including particular suppression methods; and courses on fire and explosion, including explosion suppression technology, pressure development, detonation velocities and various protection methods. In addition, because this Staff I EMI Fire Safety position is responsible for wide range of tasks in the field of fire protection engineering, including advanced fire effects and explosions modeling, the employer has determined that a combination of a university education and handson experience is necessary. Due to the level of responsibility that this position entails, specifically interfacing with building and fire officials, architectural clients, and research partners, and analysis and design of composite structures, the employer has determined that at least two years of experience is necessary for the position. The employer would not hire someone for this position who did not meet these minimum requirements.
