Bachelor of Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering or foreign equivalent and California Professional Engineer license in Civil Engineering plus 2 years of experience to include working on structural engineering of projects through various phases including schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and permitting, construction phase services, and project closeout; performing site visits and conduct surveys to document and evaluate existing systems and determine engineering strategies for renovation; checking models for clearances, potential conflicts, and relationships of the various parts to the whole and to one another; coordinate with the work of other disciplines; implementing and utilizing Best Practices for projects and processes; actively seeking new knowledge related to structural engineering practices, principles and regulations changes for various building codes and standards including International building Code IBC, American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE 7, American Concrete Institute ACI, American Institute of Steel Construction AISC and California Building Code CBC; performing structural design and analysis for various structural materials, including steel, concrete, and timber; making informed decision in selecting appropriate construction materials; performing seismic analysis and design for building structures in high seismic zones; using stateoftheart structural Finite Element analysis programs including RISA to perform nonlinear dynamic analysis as well as seismic response calculations; preparing conceptual and detailed designs, design criteria reports, design reports, drawings, and quality assurance reviews and performs site inspections; reviewing models, plans, details and drawings of structural engineering systems and components according to established standards, based on engineering analysis and input from the design team; designing the foundations based on recommendations provided in the geotechnical report; performing gravity and seismic analysis and design of heavy commercial equipments anchorage to structural system; organizing and maintaining analytical models, calculations and other documents for multiple projects; utilizing knowledge and experience in applying engineering principles for complete and accurate code compliant drawings; leading and managing structural engineering tasks in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion; providing technical guidance and engineering support for construction activities including review of technical submittals, response to contractors requests for information and response to plan check comments from building department; obtaining building department approvals; making technical assumptions, thinking independently to complete assigned work, and drawing engineering conclusions; participating as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions, and leading on issues where appropriate; working in integrated design team and collaborate with multiple practices outside the firm.
