Metal Finisher positions are entry level positions involving grinding or polishing metal at Smith Sawmill Service, LLCs principal worksite at 181 County Road 4763, Timpson, Texas. No particular education, training or experience required. Instead, Metal Finisher new hires are provided a reasonable period of 30 days of onthejob training that enables workers to acquire the skills necessary to perform the job duties.br br At a minimum, applicants are required to be willing and able tobr arrive at the worksite reasonably before the work shift begins and be able to remain at work with minimum interruptions or absences work shift are fulltime positions that begins work at 700 a.m. and ends at 400 p.m.br Read and write English at a basic conversational level of proficiency;br Basic understanding of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers.br work in a drug free, tobacco free and alcohol free work place, which includes submitting to drug and alcohol testing;br perform job duties, after a reasonable period of onthejob training of 30 days, in an industrial environment during exposure to regular and continuous loud noises produced by machines, grinders and other metalonmetal fabrication activities;br use arms, hands and fingers for positioning, holding, manipulating and moving tools and work pieces while controlling movements to avoid defect caused by vibration andor tool movement while performing metal finishing tasks;br sign a confidentiality agreement because employee will be working with and have access to proprietary designs;br clear background and criminal history checks for felony convictions and moral turpitude crimes, such as theft, embezzlement, robbery, etc.br Must be eligible for employment in the United States.br br Metal Finisher workers are provided 30 days of onthejob training, during which such workers are trained tobr 1. properly inspect and finish metal work pieces and removing imperfections or nonconforming features by grinding or polishing using hand and power tools;br 2. work in a safe manner consistent with work place safety trainings, rules and regulations;br 3. produce production records, such as frequency of noncorrectable defects on workpieces and average weekly workpiece counts;br 4. work with attention to detail as reflected in work piece production counts and quality control checks;br 5. assist production personnel by helping identify workpiece defects;br 6. communicate with manufacturing workers personnel through verbal and written English language;br 7. use precision measuring tools, within small tolerances .001;br 8. apply metric and standard measuring units with tape measures, rulers calipers or micrometers;br 9. file, grind, polish and adjust metal work pieces to meet production standards, with physical ability to use both hands and arms in a steady fashion while moving hand tools, electric tools, hand grinders, sanders, files, straight edges, polishers, against workpieces in conformance with specifications;br 10. handle metal work pieces by holding, turning, milling, drilling, shaping, grinding or polishing metal;br 11. calculate and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces;br 12. receive safety training prior to commencement of work, including audio and video instruction pertaining to safety rules and regulations and the worker will receive practical handson training and demonstrations concerning proper usage of equipment and safety features incorporated throughout the facility, including fire prevention and extinguishment, safety machine or tool shutdown features, etc;
