ZTI is a company, headquartered in California, arising from the merger of two 2 preexisting entities, DASAN Network Solutions, Inc. in U.S. DNS U.S. and Zhone Technologies Inc. Zhone. DNS U.S. was established as a U.S.based whollyowned subsidiary of DASAN Networks in 2010, and through its whollyowned subsidiary DASAN Network Solutions, Inc. in Korea DNS Korea, became a leading network solution provider, establishing endtoend capabilities across carrier and enterprise markets. Zhone, incorporated in the State of Delaware in 1999, was a global leader in fiber access transformation for service provider and enterprise networks. Due to this acquisition, ZTI needs to integrate the network and systems among all of its U.S. and Korean entities. In particular, to ensure consistency and smooth transition of merging Korean and U.S. entities network and systems, ZTIs Chief Technology Officer CTO must liaise with the Korean parent company and subsidiary in English and Korean to ensure full and effective systems integration. The CTO must also direct and manage the transfer of knowledge and expertise relating to DNS Koreas products and its technologies from the Korean entities to the engineering and technical departments of the U.S. counterparts, including overseeing the development and compilation of the training materials in English and Korean, to ensure consistency in training among all U.S. and Korean entities. Not only do the employees at the Korean parent company and subsidiary have minimal knowledge of the English language, the training documents and networksystems data are also primarily in Korean; and thus, virtually all the communications with them have to be in Korean. In fact, approximately 70 of the CTOs duties require use of the Korean language, and thus, it would be extremely difficult for a CTO to fulfill the duties of this position without complete fluency in written and spoken Korean. In other words, fluency in Korean is an absolute business necessity for the position in question.
