Specific Skills

The Application Engineer Distribution will be based out of SELs Hawthorn Woods field office located at 30 Landover Parkway, Hawthorn Woods, Illinois 60047. However, because SEL has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a shortterm basis be deployed to various customer sites. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis.br br Candidates must possess, at minimum, a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related. All candidates must also possess knowledge, as evidenced by passing a basic technical proficiency test, of all four of the following subject matter areas 1 protective relay engineering theory, industry practices, protocols, applications, and testing; 2 threephase electric power theory, design, and operation including power calculations; 3 theory and formulation of networks used for symmetrical component calculations; and 4 power engineering fault calculations. Note All candidates for all engineering positions at SEL must pass a basic technical proficiency test. Candidates must also be willing to comply with SELs DrugFree and TobaccoFree policies.
