The position requires strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as our financial activities are audited by various government agencies as well as by an annual independent financial audit. In addition to a broad understanding of accounting principles, the position also must also be familiar with audit and fixed asset accounting principles.br About the Utah Food Bankbr For over 110 years, Utah Food Bank has stayed true to our objective of serving those in need throughout our state. We work tirelessly with community partners and volunteers to continue making an impact and fulfilling our mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide. Last year, Utah Food Bank distributed 36.1 million meals via a statewide network of 150 partner agencies located in all 29 counties. In addition to being one of only a handful of food banks that distributes food freeofcharge to partner agencies, we also offer several direct service programs to help the most vulnerable populations in our state children and seniors. By combining these direct service programs with our emergency food assistance services, we can truly impact the lives of Utahns who live in a world of food insecurity.br Position Overviewbr The Utah Food Bank has a small accounting staff that has financial oversight over an organization that has revenue and expense of 82 million involving tens of thousands of individual transactions. Due to the limited size of our staff, the position requires a broad understanding of multiple accounting roles in order to provide backup to our accounting coordinators. In addition to accurately recording revenue and expenses in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, responsibilities also include tracking certain conditions associated with restricted funding to ensure that the restrictions have been met. The position requires making journal entries to the general ledger and reconciling bank account balances to the general ledger and also providing a second review of transactions made by our two accounting coordinators. The position is also responsible for performing our monthly close of our financial activities and prepares monthly reports for the CFO, the Financial Audit Committee and Utah Food Bank Board of Directors.
