PC Protection Control engineering is a division of electrical power engineering that deals with the protection of power utility systems. Mesa Associates, Inc. Mesa is an engineering, procurement, and construction management firm. This position is not entrylevel but plays an integral part in preparing complex technical drawings and electrical system documents including Elementary Diagrams AC Alternating Current DC Direct Current, Equipment Switchboard Wiring Diagrams, Panel Front Views, Bills of Materials, and Circuit List that is vital to our business of producing deliverables that meet applicable design requirements, specifications, codes as well as customer standards. She must understand and apply advanced knowledge inwith Smart grid applications for Electrical System Protection and Control; Protective Relay Testing, Configuration, and Operation; and Distributed Control Systems to perform the above tasks. She must draw upon advanced knowledge in Power System Stability Analysis and Operation to utilize computerassisted engineering and design software to develop and design the Single Line Diagram which falls into the scope provided by the client. She must use advanced knowledge in Power Systems Analysis and Design to effectively confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products. She must employ advanced knowledge in Power System Protection to prepare specifications for material andor equipment purchases, including identifying, researching, and recommending long lead items and sending requests to the client for ordering long lead material items. She must apply all of the above advanced knowledge to perform technical check and review of deliverables and other project documents, ensure deliverables comply with Business Unit procedures, and meet project design requirements and applicable specifications and codes. Such advanced knowledge in all of these areas that are required for this role can only be gained through at least a Masters degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or related. The educational and advanced knowledge requirements bear a reasonable relationship to the occupation in the context of our business and are essential to perform the job in a reasonable manner. As our business involves understanding complex tools and methods for substation engineering design, a lower degree e.g., a Bachelors degree or Associates degree in the same field does not provide the theoretical and advanced knowledge required to be able to contribute to our services of creating custom applications unique to the electrical power industry. Likewise, experience instead of an advanced degree would not provide the level of theoretical and advanced knowledge required for this position.
