Specific Skills

The Application Engineer Protection will be based out of SELs Charlotte field office located at 901 Center Park Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28217. However, because SEL has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a shortterm basis be deployed to various customer sites. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis.br br Candidates must possess, at minimum, a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering, or related. All candidates must also possess knowledge, as evidenced by passing a basic technical proficiency test, of all three of the following subject matter areas 1 protective relay engineering theory, industry practices, applications, and testing; 2 theory, design, operation, and formulation of networks used for symmetrical component calculations; and 3 power engineering fault conditions. Note All candidates for all engineering positions at SEL must pass a basic technical proficiency test. Candidates must also be willing to comply with the companys DrugFree and TobaccoFree policies.
