Requires at least 24 months of postdoctoral experience or training with the following skills, tools, technologies, or applications of knowledgebr br 1. Establishing, maintaining and utilizing cell cultures to perform genetic and cellular research, including curating a catalogue of cell lines in cryogenic storage.br br 2. Utilizing protein chemistry techniques, including extracting and purifying cellular components such as proteasome and lysosomes and conducting a wide range of biochemical and kinetic assays, to measure changes in cell metabolism in response to neurotoxins, experimental drugs and nonprotein amino acids.br br 3. Performing protein quantitation assays including SDSPAGE and western blotting, and colorimetric and fluorescent quantitation assays for cell viability.br br 4. Utilizing molecular biology techniques for example, RNA extraction, purification, and conversion to cDNA, RTPCR, and realtime PCR qPCR for quantitating expression of mRNA and small RNA species such as miRNA in the design, implementation, and analysis of differential gene expression in human blood plasma and cell culture extracts in response to disease, neurotoxins, and experimental drugs.br br 5. Participating in fundraising and public outreach events, including highlighting and explaining key research findings to potential donors in clear, simple language.br br 6. Utilizing the GraphPad Prism statistical analysis software package to deploy statistical analysis of biological sciences research data.br br In addition, candidates must provide proof of at least two peerreviewed publications authored after completion of the PhD program i.e., the PhD dissertation does not apply toward satisfying this requirement.br br SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSbr br 1. This position requires work involving human and animal cell cultures, human and animal biological fluids such as blood plasma or other potentially infectious materials is required.br br 2. Required travel includes 12 international trips per year to attend scientific conferences estimated duration 10 14 days, and 1 trip within the USA to attend a fundraising event estimated duration 3 days. Estimated percentage of time spent traveling is 5.
