Specific Skills

Must have a Masters in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering. Must have 2 years of experience with hot rolling of steel or aluminum castings with metallurgical evaluation of process parameters in manufacturing environment and performing sophisticated defect and processing analysis, drawing conclusions, interpreting critical metallurgical parameters, doing capability analysis using Minitab, and making recommendations for creating new processes and improving current process. Must have 1 year of experience with semipermanent molding of aluminum castings, incl. chemistry checks for different aluminum alloy chemistry and their T5 and T6 heat treatment in continuous heat treat furnaces and creation of universal T6 heat treatments for aluminum alloy castings; creating critical process parameters for eliminating soft casting or incomplete T6 heat treat; performing metallurgical testing procedures for aluminum castings, including tensile test, Brinell hardness test, and specific gravity check; and preparation of metallography sample and interpretation of aluminum alloy microstructure for defect recognition, solidification rate, heat treat completion, and failure during heat treatment.
