All of our Principal Test Engineers have at least the education and experience listed in the minimum requirements, and we would not hire anyone who did not possess these credentials. This position requires an advanced, indepth, theoretical understanding of engineering principles best gained through a university education. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, degree programs in engineering management include coursework in engineering economics, project management, computer applications, and quality control. These programs provide students with the tools, methods and practice necessary to work in the specialized field of software development and testing. In addition to learning engineering fundamentals, students often are required to participate in rigorous research projects and spend hours completing lab work. Through these programs, they learn how to creatively solve problems, design and implement experiments, and improve processes. In addition, this Principal Test Engineer plays a key role in the development and testing of software used in the maritime shipping industry worldwide. Because of the level of responsibility that this position entails, as well as the serious consequences of errors, VNC has determined that a Masters and 3 years of experience or a Bachelors and 5 years of progressively responsible postdegree experience are the minimum qualifications necessary to perform this position.
